Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) is a program committed to developing businesses that are 51% owned by minority groups like Asian-American, women-owned, physically and economically disabled people.

HUB certification aims to upgrade these businesses and enable them to procure the resource and help them grow with the opportunities.

The HUB certificate is issued by the US State Government generally with the criteria of minority basis, but still, the eligibility may also depend upon the issuer. The primary intent is to increase the sale of minority groups and increase the goods and services purchased by the state.

The minority businesses must complete the application and submit it to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts to get the certificate. There they will review the application and approve it for certification.

Eligibility Criterion

  • The basic eligibility is that the business needs to be 51% owned by minorities.
  • The HUB certificate is free of cost and is applicable for four years, provided they remain under the minority group.
  • The business has to show interest and participate in different processes like operation and management.
  • 35% of the employees must be residents of the HUB zone.

  • The HUB certificate aims to promote the number of contracts to HUB suppliers.
  • The certification wants to grow the economy.
  • They provide training to help a business grow.
  • The Government has to give the 3% of all dollars to the HUB-certified business owner.
